Staff Correspondent:  A 10-member medical body has been formed for bullet-hit newborn daughter who is struggling for her life at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Dr Kaniz Hasina Sheuli, associate professor at the paediatrics department of the DMCH who is supervising the newborn’s treatment, confirmed this to risingbd on Saturday noon.

The child’s condition is improving and she is taking milk, the doctor said.

Earlier on Friday, the child was shifted to the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) as her condition deteriorated.
Nazma Begum, the pregnant woman who was shot in the womb on July 23, has yet to see her bullet-hit newborn daughter.

After reaching Dhaka via ambulance from Magura General Hospital on Thursday night, Nazma has been undergoing treatment at the DMCH gynaecology ward. When this correspondent visited her Friday afternoon, she was lying on her bed quietly, her face vacant of expression.

The newborn received bullet injuries when her eight-month pregnant mother was shot in the abdomen during a clash between two factions of Chhatra League in Magura on July 23.
