16 dead as bus turns turtle in UP of India

International Desk: Sixteen people were killed and 21 others got injured in UP’s Mainpuri district on Wednesday morning when a private tourist bus lost control and rammed into a road divider.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 5 AM near Kiratpur under Dannahar police station when the speeding private Volvo bus hit the road divider and overturned after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The bus was travelling from Jaipur to Farukkhabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Talking to TOI, Mainpuri Superintendent of Police, Ajay Shankar Rai confirmed the death of 16 passengers. He said that a total of 21 people were injured and three of the victims who sustained severe injuries were being shifted to the Safai hospital in Etawah district.
