Staff Correspondent: In a bid to protect the country`s forest resources, an 18-member taskforce headed by Environment and Forests Minister, Anwar Hossain Manju, has been formed on Thursday.

The taskforce was formed in a meeting, held at the secretariat, in the capital with Environment and Forests Minister in the chair, government sources confirmed this to media.

The taskforce will hold meeting frequently and the difference between one meeting to another is three months.

Anwar Hossain Manju will be the president and the additional secretary of the forests ministry will be the member secretary of the taskforce.

Secretaries of the separate ministries and some other high officials of the government are also the members of the taskforce.

The taskforce will oversee all of the irregularities in country`s forest resources including- Grabbing forests, trafficking forest resources and protection of its animals.
