3 more held over Bogra Shia mosque shootings

Bogra Correspondent: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday held three more people for interrogation in connection with the shootings at Bogra Shia mosque.

 

Earlier on Thursday night, Police also nabbed two persons hours after the incident was carried out at Haripur under Shibganj upazila in Bogra.

 

Police and RAB `however` could not tell details whether the detainees are involved in the incident.

 

ASM Ajmol Hossain Khan, company commander of Bogra RAB-12, said the all detainees are locals. They were held for interrogation in the incident.

 

Akter Hossain, ASP of Bogra Police Bureau of Investigation, told risingbd that the incident is similar with the militant attacks which were carried out across the country including in the capital.

 

He, `however` could not tell whether the international Islamic militant outfit Islamic State was involved in the incident.

 

The security measures have been beefed up across the district, he added.

 

Meanwhile, the shot wounded Aftab Hossain, 40, of Haripur village was released from hospital while other two bullet-hit men, Shahinur Rahman and Abu Taher, are undergoing treatment at Bogra Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital.

 

Miscreants opened fire aiming at Shia Muslims in a mosque at Haripur under Shibganj upazila in Bogra on Thursday evening, leaving a muezzin named Moazzem Hossain, 60, killed and three others injured.
