3200kg gold seized in last three years

Economic Reporter: A total of 3200 kilogrammes of gold worth Tk 1,450 crores were seized in the country in the last three years.

Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Dr. Moinul Khan disclosed this at a seminar on ‘Smuggling and duty evasion’ at Diploma Engineers Institution, Bangladesh at Kakrail in the city on Saturday noon.
A total of 130 people were held in the smuggling incidents, he said.

The seized gold has been deposited to Bangladesh Bank under police protection in presence of officials concerned.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith was present as the chief guest.

State Minister for Finance MA Mannan and Home Secretary Dr. Mozammel Hossain Khan were present as special guests.
