4 awarded death penalty in Jhalakathi

Jhalakathi Correspondent: A Jhalakathi court on Wednesday awarded death penalty to four people and three others awarded lifetime imprisonment, in college student Badal killing case.

District Session Judge SM Solaiman passed the order on Wednesday around 4:00pm.

The convicted are - Shahid Sikdar, Nizam Sikdar, Dulal Sikdar and Badal Sikdar awarded death penalty. And Harun Sikdar, Salam Sardar and Monu Sikdar awarded lifetime imprisonment.

The court also released six others from the charge of killing.   

Case statement said that on September 2, 1998, the victim Badal Sardar was hacked to death by miscreants in Vitabaria village under Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur.

Later, victim’s father filed a killing case mentioning 13 names.
