4 killed as truck overturns in Rangpur

Four labourers were killed and five others injured when an iron rod-laden truck overturned in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur.

The accident took place at Anantapur point on the Taraganj-Burirhat road on Wednesday (July 1) noon.

The deceased were identified as Anil Chandra, 45, son of Verabania of village Dorjipara and Khoyrat Hossain, 50, son of Pachu Mahmud of Kishoreganj upazila in Nilphamari, Abu Bakar Siddique, 45, son of Kochi Mahmud of Dolapara area and Farhad Hossain, 25, son of Shamsher Ali of village Kursha Dolapara in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Taraganj police station Zinnat Ali said, the bodies were recovered and the injured were taken to Taraganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

“The truck driver and his assistant fled the scene,” the OC said, adding that police seized the truck.
