41 rivers register rises, 29 falls

DHAKA, July 4: Water levels in 41 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises and 29 stations recorded falls.

Among the 73 monitored water level stations, one has been registered steady, a bulletin issued by FFWC said today. All the monitoring water level stations are flowing below their respective danger levels.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna, the Ganges-Padma and the Meghna rivers are in rising trend, which may continue during the next 72 hours.

Significant rainfall was also recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today.

A total of 60 mm rainfall was recorded at Sunamganj and 45 mm at Kanaighat.

In association with rain or thunder showers, temporary south or south- easterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over different parts of the country.

The different regions are Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox`s Bazar and Sylhet, a Met Office weather bulletin said today.

River ports have been asked to hoist cautionary signal no. one (r) one.
