8 abducted fishermen rescued in Sundarbans

Satkhira Correspondent: Members of Coast Guard rescued eight abducted fishermen following a gunfight with forest robbers in Badurjhuli area of Satkhira range in the Sundarbans on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, a Coast Guard team was conducting a drive in the area. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, robbers of Dada Bhai and Mostak gangs opened fire on them, forcing the Coast Guard members to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

Later, the law enforcers rescued eight fishermen who were abducted for ransom recently.
They also seized four boats, two rifles and 15 rounds of bullets from the spot.

Meanwhile, no forest robber was detailed till filing of this report.
