ASI, cop source sent to jail over Kotalipara murder

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Shamim Hasan and police source Md Rezaul have been sent to jail over Nikhil Talukdar murder case in Kotalipara.

Gopalganj chief judicial magistrate court sent them to jail after they were produced before it around 12:00pm on Monday.

Sheikh Lutfor Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotalipara Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, a three-member divisional probe body led additional superintendent of police (ASP) Aslam Khan was formed to investigate into the incident.

On Sunday night, Mintu Talukdar, brother of deceased Nikhil Talukdar, filed a murder case with Kotalipara Police Station against the duo. Later, they were arrested.

Mentionable, Shamim and Rezaul were recording a video of Nikhil and three others when they were playing cards in the afternoon of June 2 near Ramshil Bazar in the upazila.

Except Nikhil, others managed to flee the scene after noticing that they were being filmed. Shamim caught Nikhil and assaulted him.

At one point, Nikhil’s spinal cord had been broken in three parts after Shamim hit Nikhil's spine with his knees. Later, Nikhil died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Pangu Hospital.
