BNP leader MK Anwar dies

Senior Correspondent: Former minister and BNP Standing Committee Member MK Anwar has passed away. He was 84.

The BNP stalwart breathed his last at his residence on Elephant Road in the capital around 1:15am on Tuesday.

 
Shairul Kabir Khan, an official of the BNP chairperson's press wing, confirmed the news quoting MK Anwar's son Mahbub Anwar.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep condolence at the death of the veteran leader.

The first Namaz-e-Janaza of MK Anwar will be held at 10:00am at Kataban mosque in the capital. The second Janaza is scheduled to be held in front of the party's central office at Nayapaltan at 12:00pm while the third one will be held at the South Plaza of the national parliament around 1:00pm.

He is expected to be buried at his ancestral graveyard in Comilla after performing the final Namaz-e-Janaza after Asar Prayer tomorrow.
