BNP stages demo in capital

Senior Correspondent: BNP on Saturday staged demonstration in the capital protesting law enforcers' attack on its sit-in programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday. 

A procession led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was brought out in front of the party office in Nayapaltan this morning.

Earlier on Thursday, BNP observed a sit-in programme in front of the Jatiya Press. Meanwhile, plainclothes police detained a leader from the programme. Following the issue, BNP announced protest programme across the country.

On February 8, BNP chief Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a court sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. Protesting the jailing of Khaleda, the party observed several kinds of programme including protest rally, human chain formation, sit-in, token hunger strike.
