Desk Report: Satellite launching company SpaceX successfully threw Bangabandhu-1, the country’s first commercial satellite, to the orbit in US local time 4:14pm (Bangladesh time 2:14am).
Around 33 minutes into the flight, Bangabandhu-1 was separated from its carrier and is now in geostationary orbit.
Through this launching Bangladesh entered into a historic journey of elite satellite club and said people who are related with this process.
Bangabandhu-1 satellite was scheduled to be launched early Friday Bangladesh time but it was postponed as the Falcon-9 rocket of launching company SpaceX auto aborted following a minor error 58 seconds prior to lift off.
Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, State Minister for Information Tarana Halim, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on ICT Affairs Imran Ahmed and high officials concerned were present at the launching ceremony.
The satellite has finally made its journey towards the orbit after its launching schedule was deferred 9 times previously.
