Bangladesh wins 15 awards in APICTA

Desk Report: Bangladesh has won a winner award and 14 others merit awards in Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA), known as the Oscar of ICT world.

The awards were handed over at the closing ceremony of APICTA held at Bangabanghu International Conference Centre in the capital on Sunday.

This is the first time the competition and the award ceremony was held in Bangladesh.

The four daylong event ended with the handover of the awards to the selected winners on Monday at Bangabandhu International Conference Center.

Sixteen member countries of APICTA took part in the competition where 177 projects were presented before the judges. 66 judges from APICTA member countries judged the projects for 2 days.

Awards were given in 17 different categories. Apart from Bangladesh, other APICTA members are- Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, China Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Nepal.

Of the countries, Hong Kong bagged the highest winner awards. The country clinched 4 winner awards and five merit awards.

Bangladesh became a member of APICTA two years ago and just one year into its entry, last year Bangladesh was declared as the host of the competition for 2017.
