Bus kills man in Gopalganj

Gopalganj Correspondent: A man was killed and 10 others were injured as a bus ran over them at Gopinathpur on Dhaka-Khulna highway of the district's sadar upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Lutfor Rahman Sheikh, 50, son of Islam Sheikh of Boalmari in Faridpur.

Selim Reza, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj sadar police station, confirmed the news.

He said a Dhaka-bound Falguni Paribahan bus from Khulna collided on the opposite head a bus of Tungiparha Paribahan bus while overtaking a truck at Gopinath. The Tungiparha bus left a passerby killed and entered Gopinathpur school premises breaking its boundary wall.

The Falguni bus also fell in a roadside ditch as its driver lost the control over the steering. 

At least 10 people were injured in the accident. Later, police and Fire Service men rescued them. 

Of the injured, four were rushed to the Gopalganj General Hospital where Lutfor was declared dead.

The three others were admitted to the hospital and the other victims were released after giving them first aid.
