Child-lifting rumour: 4 injured in Nilphamari mob beating

Nilphamari Correspondent: Four people including a woman were injured in mob beating on suspicion of being child-lifter at Syedpur upazila in Nilphamari on on Sunday evening and Monday morning.

Later, they were handed over to police.

It was learnt that the four were roaming at different places of Nilphamari town with slovenly appearance. Locals stopped them and charged about their identities. Later, they beat them when they made confusing replies. Being informed, police rescued them and took them to police station.

The suspects were known as Abdul Malek, 50, of Dinajpur, Helal Hossain, 40, of Nilphamari Sadar and Md Gafur, 56, of Gaibandha, Merriyan, 40, of Barisal.

Shahjahan Pasha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Syedpur Police Station, confirmed the news.

“We came to know after contacting with their relatives that they all are mentally imbalanced.
