City mayors to take oath Wednesday

Staff Correspondent: The three newly elected city corporation mayors and other councilors of Dhaka South, Dhaka North and Chittagong- will be sworn-in on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will administer the swear-in ceremony for the three cities` elected mayors while Minister for Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives, Syed Ashraful Islam, will administer the swear-in ceremony for the rest councilors at PM`s office in the capital at around 10.00 am on the day.

The Election Commission (EC) has gazetted the results of the city polls naming the newly elected mayors and councillors of Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation and Chittagong City Corporation.
Those who included in the gazette are-Dhaka North mayor-elect Anisul Haque, 36 councillors, 12 reserved seat councillors; Dhaka South mayor-elect Sayeed Khokon and 54 councillors; and Chittagong’s mayor-elect AJM Nasir Uddin, 41 councillors and 14 reserved seat councillors.
The election was held on April 28 while Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) boycotted the polls in three city corporations terming it a meaningless election.
