Complexity in incentives for non-MPO teachers

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allocated Tk46.63 crore as a special grant for the Non-MPO teachers-staff amid Covid-19 crisis. But, the process to disperse the aid is delayed due to bank account complexity.

Education ministry sources said, the premier provided the money from her special grant for 105,785 teachers and other staff of schools and colleges. Already the lists have been finalized. A total of 80,747 non-MPO teachers will be given Tk5,000 each and 25,038 non-MPO staff members of the aforementioned institutes will be given Tk2,500 each.

Letters were sent to district education offices. The teachers and staff were asked to send their bank accounts. But most of them have no bank account.

Following the issue, couple of teachers said that they have got the information but they failed to provide details regarding bank accounts in time. That’s why they sought more time to solve the bank account issue.

Directorate of Secondary & Higher Education secretary (admin and finance) Dr Aruna Biswas said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allocated special grant for the Non-MPO teachers-staff amid coronavirus crisis. Specific process has been said to provide the money so that everyone get the money properly. District education office, deputy commissioners are involved with the matter. Additional time can be considered if teachers apply for it.”
