Staff Correspondent: Police foiled BNP’s black flag showing programme on Saturday in front of its Nayapaltan central office in protest against the denial of permission to hold a rally in the city.
The leaders and activists started gathering in front of the party central office in Nayapaltan around 11:00am with black flags and started their procession from in front of the party office after half an hour.
As soon as they took to the road, police charged baton to disperse the procession. They also used coloured water blasted from the water cannons.
At least 25 BNP men were picked up from the nearby areas during the incident.
BNP applied for permission to hold a mass rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan or Naya Paltan on February 22, but had been denied by police.
