Decision on DNCC by-polls within one or two days

Staff Correspondent: Decision over the by-polls of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will be take within one or two days, said Helaluddin Ahmed, acting secretary of the Election Commission (EC).

He made this comment to the reporters after a meeting with law enforcement agencies at Election Building of the capital's Agargaon over union parisad and municipality polls on Sunday.

Helaluddin Ahmed said, "The commission will hold a meeting within one or two days. The DNCC by-polls will be discussed  there and taken the decision."

"The mayoral post has already been declared as vacant by the local government ministry. We have already received a copy of notification in this regard," he added.

Is there any complexity over adding 18 new wards to the city, the journalists asked the secretay.

In reply, he said local government ministry has requested us to arrange for polls in the new 18 wards. So, there is no complexities for holding election now.
