Decision on Ershad’s grave July 16

Senior Correspondent: Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga said that decision on grave for late party chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad will be taken on July 16.

He came up with the disclosure in face of demonstration of the party leaders and activists during the announcement of mourning programmes on Sunday afternoon.

Ranga said, “According to JP Chairman HM Ershad’s last will, till now the decision on burying him at the military graveyard in Dhaka is upheld. We will discuss the matter if leaders and activists want to bury him in a public place. We top leaders along with family members will take the final decision in this regard and inform you on July 16.”

During the announcement, leaders and activists were chanting slogans demanding Ershad’s burial at any public place in the capital.

Then, Ranga urged the agitated party leaders and activists to be calm, saying, “Please, be quite and calm. We understand the emotion of leaders and activists. JP Chairman will be buried as per the will of leaders and activists. We top leaders and family members will discuss the matter.”

JP presidium member Azam Khan, Atiqur Rahman, Liakat Hossain Khoka MP, Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, ATU M Taj Rahman, Shafiqul Islam Sentu, Vice Chairman Jahirul Alam Rubel, Mostaqur Rahman Mostaq, Belal Hossain, Masudur Rahman Masud, Sumon Ashraf, Mizanur Rahman Miru among others were present there.
