Dhaka`s rail link with northern region snapped

Tangail Correspondent: The rail link of the northern districts with the capital Dhaka has been suspended from Saturday morning as heavy rainfall washed away the soil under the rail line at Kalihati in the district.

The railway officials said heavy rainfall washed away the soil of a rail line in Analiabari no-9 Bridge area at Kalihati at around 11.00am this morning.

A team from Dhaka are coming to the spot to repair the rail line  and the train movement will expected to be resumed in the evening, the railway officials added.

Officer in-charge of Bangabondhu Bridge East police Station Akheruzzaman said a seven-meter deep hole has been created in the rail line after washing away the soil by the heavy downpour of last two days.
