Drug peddler killed in gunfight

Munshiganj Correspondent: A suspected drug peddler has been killed in a gunfight with police in Mireshwar area of Munshiganj early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Arif, 30.

Police said that the law enforcers detained him on Wednesday afternoon with 110 pieces of Yaba tablets. Later, following his information, police conducted arms recovery drive in the area around 2:30am. Meanwhile, sensing presence of police, the cohorts of Arif opened fire aiming police which triggered the gunfight, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was taken to hospital where duty doctor declared him dead around 3:00am.

Mushiganj Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossain said Arif was wanted in 12 cases including arms, murder, robbery, drugs and others.

A pistol and eight rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.
