Drug ringleader killed in Chuadanga gunfight

Chuadanga Correspondent: A ringleader of an organised drug trading gang was killed in a gunfight with police in Alamdanga railway station area of the district early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Kamruzzaman Sadhu, 35, son of late Imdadul, hailed from Hardi village under Alamdanga upazila.

Meanwhile, four policemen were also injured during the gun-battle. They are - Sub-Inspector (SI) Zia, SI Shahid, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Hamid and constable Rakibul.

Alamdanga police station Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) Lutfar Kabir said that acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted drive in the area around 12:30am on Tuesday. Meanwhile, sensing the presence of police, drug traders opened fire aiming the police team which triggered the 20 minutes long gunfight, leaving Kamruzzaman bullet injured.

Later, he was taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

The law enforcers seized a one-shooter gun, three round of rifle bullets and 200 pieces of phensidyl from the spot.

Kamruzzaman Sadhu was wanted in 11 cases, the OC added.
