Drug trader killed in Bagerhat gunfight

Bagerhat Correspondent: A drug trader was killed in a gunfight with police in Chinguri Mochandapur area of Chitalmari upazila in Bagerhat early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Mitul Biswas, 45, son of Khoka Biswas, hailed from Chinguri Mochandapur village.

Chitalmari police station offier-in-charge Onukul Biswas said police detained Mitul Biswas from Kunia bus stand area during the ongoing anti-drug drive. Later, following his information, police went to the area to recover drugs. Meanwhile, Mitul's cohorts opened fire aiming police which triggered the gunfight. At one stage, the drug trader tried to flee the scene.

Later, police found the body of Mitul from the area. A shutter-gun, two rounds of bullets, two kilogram of cannabis and 100 pieces of Yaba pills were recovered from the spot.

Mitul was wanted in 22 cases including murder and drug cases, OC added.
