Each family of Gazipur boiler blast victims to get TK 8 lakh

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Each family of those killed in a boiler explosion at a garment factory in Joydebpur upazila of Gazipur yesterday evening will receive TK 8 lakh as compensation.

Of the total TK 8 lakh, the Ministry of Labour and Employment will give TK 5 lakh and the owner of factory TK 3 lakh to each family of those killed in the boiler blast.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu and owner of the factory Md Mohiuddin Faruki made the announcement after visiting the factory on Tuesday noon.

Expressing deep condolences to the victim's family, Mujibul Haque told reporters that the Ministry of Labour and Employment will give TK 2 lakh for insurance and TK 3 lakh as grants to each family of those killed in the boiler blast.

Meanwhile, factory's owner Mohiuddin Faruki said TK 3 lakh will be given to each family of those killed as compensation adding that the authority will also bear full cost of treatment for the injured.

Earlier on Monday night, the district administration gave TK 20,000 to each family of those killed in the boiler explosion.

Mentionable, at least 10 people were killed and 50 others injured in a boiler explosion at a garment factory in Joydebpur upazila of Gazipur on Monday evening.

The explosion took place at Multi Fabs Ltd in Nayapara area in the upazila around 7:15pm.
