Ex-UP member killed in Gaibandha

Gaibandha Correspondent: A former union parishad member was killed at Khamar Zamira village of the district's Polashbari upazila on Wednesday late night.

The deceased was identified as Mahamudur Rahman, 49, son of Nur Hossain Mondal of Monohorpur village. He was a member of Ward no. 7 of Monohorpur union.

Police held two persons in this connection. They are Goffar Ali, 37, of Zamira village, and his son Shahinur Mia, 15.

Confirming the news, Mahmudul Alam, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Polashbari Police Station, said Mahamudur locked into extra marital affairs with Goffar's wife when he was in Malaysia. Goffar recently came to know the matter as he returned home.

On Wednesday night, Goffar and his son Shahinur stabbed Mahamudul when he went their house, leaving him dead on the spot, he added.
