Extremist leader killed in Pabna gunfight

Pabna Correspondent: A suspected outlaw, leader of extremist group Nizam Bahini was killed in a gunfight in Aminpur of Bera upazila in the district early hours of Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Nizam alias Boro Nizam, 42, son of Zilal Mandal, hailed from Mirpur village under of Aminpur of the upazila.

Pabna Additional police super Gautam Kumar Biswas said acting on a tip-off that a group of robbers taking preparation for committing robbery in the area, police conducted a drive around 12:00am. Meanwhile, sensing presence of police, robbers opened fire. In reply, police also opened fire which triggered the gunfight, leaving Nizam bullet injured.

Later, he was taken to hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

Nizam was wanted in seven murder cases and two kidnap cases, police claimed.
