Govt summons UN Resident Coordinator over Abrar remarks

The foreign ministry has sought explanation of the United Nation over its statement on the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad.

Following the issue, UN resident coordinator in Dhaka Mia Seppo met foreign ministry director general Nahida Sobhan around 11:00am on Sunday.

Earlier on October 6, Abrar Fahad was beaten to death by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall centering a Facebook post.

Later, on Wednesday, the UN issued a statement on Abrar killing where it expressed concern over the incident.

Mia Seppo was seen leaving the room at foreign ministry this noon but, she declined to comment when asked about the meeting.
