HC stays inconsistent holding tax collection

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has stayed the collection of inconsistent holding tax than that of scheduled model tax (ideal tax) in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The court issued a rule asking the authority concern as to why inconsistent holding tax collection should not be declared illegal.

The bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Faruque came up with the order on Sunday.

Barrister Md Moktadir Rahman moved for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Amatul Karim represented the state in the court.

Local government secretary, DSCC mayor and chief executive officer among five were asked to reply to the rule within four weeks.

Some 104 people of the capital's Khilgaon area filed the writ petition with the High Court.
