ICC to hold talks on Rohingya crisis today

Secretariat Correspondent: The International Criminal Court (ICC) will hold talks on the Rohingya crisis issue following the Bangladesh's official opinion.

The hearing is scheduled to begin from Wednesday (today) in ICC headquarters in Netherland.

According to a press release issued from foreign ministry, the hearing will be held at ICC pre-trial chamber. ICC Prosecutor, Mrs Fatou Bensouda will attend the hearing.

Earlier, the court’s Pre-Trial Chamber had sent a letter in this regard and sought Bangladesh's opinion by June 11 either publicly or confidentially. Later, Bangladesh submitted opinion officially on Rohingya Crisis. Sheikh Mohammed Belal, ambassador to the Netherlands submitted the letter to ICC registrar Peter Luis.

Over 11 lakh Rohingya people have fled their homes in Myanmar’s northern Rakhine state and arrived in Bangladesh to escape a bloody military crackdown.
