District Correspondent, FARIDPUR, Nov 17: The ninth death anniversary of valiant journalist Gautam Das is being observed today (Sunday).
Gautam, 33, Faridpur bureau chief of the Dainik Samakal, was murdered by assailants in his office on November 17, 2005.
He was known for his reporting on crime and corruption is said to have been investigating local officials in Faridpur at the time of his death.
A Dhaka court has sentenced nine people to life in prison for in the much-talked-about journalist Gautam Das murder case.
Journalist Gautam Das Memorial Association, Faridpur Press Club and Samakal Surid Samabesh have chalked out various programmes to mark the day.
According to the schedule, they will place floral wreaths on the graveyard of Gautam Das at Chandidashi village of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur at 7am.
A morning procession will be led on Muzib Road at 10am. Later two separate discussion meeting will be held at 11am and at 6pm.
