Senior Correspondent: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will return home on Wednesday afternoon after around four months of stay in the United Kingdom (UK).
Khaleda was scheduled to leave London's Heathrow Airport for Bangladesh around 2:00am (BST) on Tuesday night by an Emirates Airlines flight.
The flight is expected to land at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 5:20pm on Wednesday.
BNP Chairperson's media wing members Sayrul Kabir Khan and Shamsuddin Didar confirmed this to risingbd.com.
The party has taken preparation for giving her a warm reception after her arrival at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
Khaleda is returning home when three arrest warrants were issued against her in three cases in the second week of October.
Party sources said BNP leaders and activists from central to grassroots levels are eagerly waiting for her with the hope that she is returning with some important decisions made with her son and party senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.
On July 15, Khaleda went to the UK for ‘medical treatment’ as well as unofficial meetings with her elder son Tarique Rahman. She was accompanied by her private secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and domestic help Fatema during her London trip.
She stayed at the house of Tarique Rahman, who holds the second most powerful position within the party and has been living along with his wife Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman in the UK since 2008.
Khaleda celebrated the Eid-ul-Azha there with her family members, including Tarique Rahman, his wife and daughter and the wife and daughters of her younger son late Arafat Rahman Koko in London.
