Khaleda’s plea for reinvestigation rejected

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has rejected a petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking its order for re-investigation into a portion of Zia Orphanage Graft case against her.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order after holding hearing on the petition on Thursday.

On February 7, Khaleda Zia filed a petition before the court seeking reinvestigation into the case.

Advocate Abdur Rezzaque Khan stood for the petitioner while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the HC ordered the transfer of the case of Zia Orphanage Trust graft to Dhaka Senior Special Judge's Court (Metropolitan Session Judge's Court) from Dhaka Special Judge's Court-3.

The ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust case on 3 July 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda, her eldest son Tarique Rahman, now living in the UK after securing bail, and four others for misappropriating over Tk 21. 0 million (2.10 crore) that came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
