Lakshmipur road crash leaves two dead

Two people were killed as a pickup van collided head on with a truck loaded with concrete in Raipur upazila of Lakshmipur district.

The incident took place at the Chowdhurypul area on Raipur-Chandpur road early Saturday (July 4).

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Quoting locals, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raipur Police Station Tota Mia said a pickup van leaving from Chandpur collided head on with a truck loaded with concrete at the Chowdhurypul area in Raipur upazila in the early hours of the day, leaving pickup driver, 38, dead on the spot and truck driver, 45, injured.

The truck driver was rushed to Lakshmipur Sadar hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead.

The dead bodies were kept at Lakshmipur Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.
