Landslide death toll rises to 133

Desk Report: The death toll in landslide in the hilly areas of Chittagong, Rangamati and Bandarban, following incessant downpour over Monday night, has been raised to 133.

Number of the deceased may rise further, according to officials.

In Chittagong: At least 29 people were killed in the landslide at Chandnaish and Rangunia upazila. Of them, 21 people were killed in Rangunia alone while four people including children were killed at Dhopachhorhi of Chandnaish and two were injured in the incident. The injured were admitted to Bandarban hospital.

Chandnaish OC Md Shakhawat Hossain and Rangunia upazila chairman Md Ali Shah confirmed the news.

In Rangamati: At least 98 people including four army personnel were killed in the worst landslide at different upazilas including the district town.

Manzarul Mannan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangamati, confirmed the death toll.

In Bandarban: Six people were killed and five others were injured in the landslide at Balaghata police camp area of the district sadar and the adjacent Lemujhirhiparha and Agaparha.
