'Local groups involved in financing militancy'

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said several local groups are involved in financing militancy.

He said, "Though no evidence was yet found to finance in the country's militancy by any foreign group, we got some information of several local groups involved in it. But their identities will not be disclosed right now for the sake of investigation."

In reply to a query, DMP Commissioner came up with the statement at a programme at the capital's Azimpur Girls School and College Auditorium on Wednesday.

"We have recovered many explosives and foreign arms conducting drives at different places across the country. If any group had not financed them, they would not get the arms," he added.
