Main accused arrested in Tongi immigrant murder

Staff Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday arrested the main accused of Bangladeshi origin US citizen Monowara Begum murder in Tongi.

The arrestee was identified as Sohel Mia.

Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, senior assistant director (legal and media) of RAB, confirmed the news.

Details in this regard would be disclosed later, he added.

Miscreants entered Monowara Begum's house at Arichpur area of Tongi saying that they would be rent flat on Wednesday. Just entering the room, they hacked Monowara indiscriminately and left the scene. Hearing screaming, locals rushed her to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where attending doctors declared her dead.
