Malaysian national held with 5kg gold at Dhaka airport

Staff Correspondent: Customs officials arrested a Malaysian national with 5.487 kilograms of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early Sunday.

The passenger is identified as Lui Kon Hong, 33.

Sources said the Malaysian citizen landed at the airport by a flight (OD-162) coming from Malaysia around 1:00am. Tipped off, the customs officials intercepted him at the green channel of the airport and recovered the gold worth Tk 2.74 crore searching his body.

Customs Intelligence Director General Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter.
