Staff Correspondent: Customs intelligence detained a man along with 43 bars of gold, weighing 4.286 kilogram, at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Tuesday.
The detainee is identified as Md. Anwar Hossain, a businessman.
Confirming the matter, Director General of Customs Intelligence Moinul Khan told risingbd.com that the detainee first denied to have any gold in his possession, which turned out to be false as the law enforcers brought out the gold bars, each weighing 99.70 grammes, in a black piece of cloth from inside his undergarment.
The passenger was sent to airport police station after filling a case in this regard, he added.
Current market value of the seized gold is over Tk 2.14 crores.
