Marcel-Daily Sun WC Cricket Quiz prize giving ceremony held

The Marcel-Daily Sun World Cup Cricket Quiz-2019 prize giving ceremony was held amid festive environment at the conference room of Daily Sun in Bashundhara Residential Area on Sunday.

The Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury presided over the event and former Bangladesh National Cricket Team skipper and ICC Development Manager (Asia) Aminul Islam Bulbul adorned the ceremony as the chief guest.
On behalf of Walton, Deputy Executive Director (PR, Media and Branding, Marketing Department) Mohammad Firoj Alam graced the event as the special guest.

Among others, Daily Sun Consulting Editor Nadeem Qadir, News Editor Syed Afzal Hossain, City and Diplomatic Editor Rezaul Karim Lotus, Chief Reporter Firoz Al Mamun, Sports In-Charge Atif Azam, AGM (Advertisement) Md Abdul Halim (Pakhi), Magazine Editor Morshedul Alam Mohabatand Advertisement and Communication Deputy Manager Md Gias Uddin Emon were also present on the occasion.

Sub-Editor Basobi Datta hosted the whole function during the prize giving ceremony.

Out of thousands of participants, 26 lucky participants were selected through a lottery draw procedure. The quiz was divided into two phases with each phase containing 13 prizes as the lucky winners received their prizes during the prize giving event.

Riyad from Netrokona was the first prize winner of the first phase; Sahidul Islam from Dhaka was the second prize winner while Jannatun Nayem from Dhaka became the third prize winner.

Meanwhile, the second phase saw Sharika from Dhaka coming out as the first prize winner, Nargis Akter from Madaripur clinching the second prize and Rina Akhter from Feni taking in the third prize.

The fourth and five fifth winners from each phase of the quiz competition also received gift hampers.

In the first phase, the first prize was a 12.5 CFT Marcel Refrigerator, second prize was a 32” Marcel LED TV and third prize was a 24” Marcel LED TV. 5 Marcel blenders were on offer as the fourth prize for five individual winners and five fifth prize winners will avail 5 Marcel Rice Cookers.

In the second phase, first prize was a 43” Marcel LED TV, second prize was a 12.5 CFT Marcel Refrigerator and third prize was a 24” Marcel LED TV. Just like the first phase, 5 Marcel blenders were on offer as the fourth prize for five individual winners and five fifth prize winners will avail 5 Marcel Rice Cookers in the second phase as well.

Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury applauded the winners of the quiz competition while stating that the co-operation between Daily Sun and Marcel has played an important role in the advancement of cricket in Bangladesh.

“I hope to have you people around Daily Sun for always. I want to thank Aminul Islam Bulbul for being here. I want to thank Marcel and Walton for their active participation. They have given their support every year since I have been here. They help us in any matter and I hope to have them with us also in future,” said Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury.

In his speech, Former Bangladesh National Cricket Team skipper and ICC Development Manager (Asia) Aminul Islam Bulbul expressed his appreciation for Daily Sun and reiterated Marcel and Walton’s support to Daily Sun’s efforts in sports journalism.

“I want to thank every journalists and employee of Daily Sun especially Enam bhai and for arranging the competition,” said Aminul Islam Bulbul.

“World Cup ended in July and the games ended at midnight, they managed to keep the event lively. They published the news for the readers with hard work. I want to thank for that hard work,” he said.

“The sponsors, I want to thank them too, especially Walton Group- some overseas countries were not interested to host Bangladesh cricket team before. But when the groups like Walton came up… in mid 80s Indian cricket had lots of sponsors. But when now Bangladesh playing, even in a neutral venue, we have sponsors for the ground, galleries, side screen etc- all of them are Bangladeshi sponsors,” he added.

“Walton is one of the companies we have been doing it consistently. And they are helping Bangladesh team to become and established and sustainable team- I want to thank them. Congratulations to the winners,” the former Bangladesh skipper said.

“Players and officials might perform in ups and downs but fans never perform in the same way. I hope we will go ahead together,” said Aminul.

Walton Deputy Executive Director (PR, Media and Branding, Marketing Department) Mohammad Firoj Alam emphasised  the continuing relationship between Bashundhara Group and Walton Group which resulted in such a brain tingling quiz contests.

“The co-relation between business organisations and media, are mainly maintained by the readers and audiences. And the special guest, Bulbul bhai is representing our country in front of the whole world. And without them, we might not have Shakib, Tamim or Mashrafe today. I want to thank him for coming here and joining with us,” said Firoj Alam.
