Economic Reporter: The local electronics and electrical home appliances manufacturer ‘Marcel’ is now showcasing more than 200 eye-catching models of its wide range of products following the imminent Eid-ul-Azha, one of the biggest religious festivals of the country’s Muslim community, aimed at continuing its huge sales during Eid-ul-Fitr.
Among these models, some new models refrigerators of 320 and 348 liters, featured with tempered glass door, are added to the existing fridge models of the local brand. In addition, 28-inch LED television of Marcel got two new models with black and silver colour.
Marcel authorities said, Eid-ul-Azha or Qurbani Eid are generally treated as the pick season for fridge sales. Thus, the demands for fridges across the country are gone up on the eve of Qurbani. To grab lion portion of the extra demands following Qurbani Eid, Marcel has already undertook massive preparation. Marcel has raised production of fridges in its factory at Chandra in Gazipur.
According to Marcel officials, the local brand posted about 77 percent growth in its LED TV sales during the first half of the current year compared to the sales of the same period of the previous year. Besides, the sales of fridges, air conditioners and other home appliances were also increased during that period. Thus, Marcel targeted to bag 30 percent growth in its business in this year’s Qurbani Eid compared to the last year’s Qurbani.
Mosharraf Hossain Razib, head of marketing for north zone of Marcel, said the demands for deep fridge, refrigerators and televisions are hiked before the Eid-ul-Azha. Forecasting such extra demands, the company undertook all sorts of preparations.
“Sufficient stock of products has been created in the factory,” he added.
Dr Md. Shakhwat Hossain, head of marketing for south zone of Marcel, said Marcel is manufacturing refrigerators with large space based deep. Thus, the demands for Marcel brand refrigerators are increasing day by day as the people have not to buy another deep fridge for preserving fishes and meats.
