No additional passenger pressure at Sadar Ghat

Staff Correspondent: With the Eid just around the corner, holidaymakers' journey home was largely stress-free yesterday (June 13) as they did not have to face additional passenger pressure at the Sadar Ghat terminals.

Homebound people were seen comfortably boarding water vessels to reach their destinations at different districts in the southern part of the country.

Although, the Eid special launch service was scheduled to run on June 13 but no special service vessels left the terminal due to lack of additional passenger rush.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and launch owners association said there was not so much passenger pressure in launch ghat yesterday. However, the crowd of homebound people may increase today.

BIWTA Dhaka River Port Joint Director (traffic) Alamgir Kabir said, "Every year we provide additional passenger service during Eid. We have same preparation this year also. However, there is no such passenger pressure yet. Carrying home goers, a total of 40 launches left the terminal till 11:00am on Thursday."
