Special Reporter: The employees of the four state-owned banks will not get a separate pay scale soon as it is depending on their hard work to reduce the excessive default loans.

The national pay commission has recommended that the state-owned banks will not get the separate pay scale until they pull out of the capital slump.

The employees of the state-owned banks, however, will get their salaries and allowances in according to the government pay scale.

The commission also expressed its doubts whether the state-owned banks would ever be able to recover their excessive default loans.

It also said the various autonomous and semi-autonomous government bodies would not get the separate pay scales until they start making profits.

Earlier on December 21, Mohammad Farashuddin, Chairman of the 17-member commission, submitted the report to the Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith. The report recommended these for the state-owned banks.

According to the report, Tk. 80,000 is recommended as the highest basic and Tk. 8,200 as the lowest basic for the civil servants that is double comparing the current pay scale.
