Nuclear Power Plant Act gets Cabinet nod

Secretariat Correspondent: The Cabinet has given the final nod to the draft of the Nuclear Power Plant Act-2015 and a proposal for formation of Nuclear Power Company of Bangladesh.

The Cabinet approved those on Monday noon at a meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Cabinet Secretary Muhammad MusharrafHossain Bhuiyan informed the newsmen about it.

A company, Nuclear Power Company of Bangladesh, will be set up, said Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.

Bangladesh has inked an agreement with Russia for constructing a nuclear power plant in Rooppur. Under the agreement Russia will provide all assistance for setting up the plant, including providing the fuel and taking back the used fuel.
