Nur demands implementation of assurances soon

Nurul Haque Nur, vice president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), has demanded implementation of assurances given by the university authority soon.

He came up with the demand in a Facebook post on Friday night.

He said, “BUET student Abrar Fahad murder has brought all oppression and torture of ruling party student wing, politics of grabbing seats in halls and terror activities to the country’s people. Different educational institutions specially universities shook up with the incident. The administration starts re-thinking over students’ s security.”

“DU hall provost committee took a decision that students who passed Masters will have leave halls within 15 days. Some days earlier a decision was taken in DUCSU meeting, students of first and second years will be allotted seats on the basis of merits and needs. It is a very good initiative,” he added.

He further said, “However, reality is totally different. The administration takes such many initiatives due to pressure and conditions. When under pressure, work speed increases. If there is protest in the field, the possibility of justice is created. When there is no pressure, hope, the condition you better.”

“So, now it is high time for DU and all others to wage strong protests against guest room-mass room torture and oppression in halls and ill politics of being forcibly involved in political activities,” he added.

He also urged all students to wage protest for achieving their rights. So, no student should sacrifice his/her life like Abrar.
