Poet Sufia Kamal’s 15th death anniversary

Staff Correspondent:  The 15th death anniversary of Sufia Kamal, the noted poet and social reformer, is being observed today (Thursday).

Marking the day, different social and cultural organizations have taken various programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.

Sufia Kamal, a torchbearer of the country`s culture, tradition, Liberation War and Language Movement, was born on June 20, 1911 and died on November 20, 1999.

She fought for women`s rights and liberty that later turned into a movement against social injustice, superstition and religious intolerance.
