Protesters demand gazette on quota scrapping by this month

Staff Correspondent: Students and job seekers have demanded of the government to publish a gazette on quota scrapping by this month.

Joint convener of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Forum Nurul Haq Noor announced this at a press conference held in front of Dhaka University Central Library on Thursday.

He also said they would wage a tougher movement if the gazette is not published abolishing quota within this month.

They also demanded of the government to withdraw cases against general students and identify the attackers of VC residence.

Demanding security of the students on the campus, the leaders also claimed that protesters in all the universities throughout the country are facing various kinds of harassment.

Besides, the quota leaders also demanded apology from a Bangla daily Daily Janakantha for publishing "biased news" against the movement.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that there will be no quota system in government jobs from now during the question-answer session in Parliament facing the strong protests by jobseekers and university students across the country against the quota system.
