Quader advises CU VC not to be partisan

CU Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader advised Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor (VC) of Chittagong University (CU), not to be `partisan` when they were discussing over the recent untoward incident that took place in the university.

A meeting was held in the house of Awami League Chittagong city unit President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury in this regard on Sunday morning.

A source has confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

The Awami League General Secretary called CU Vice Chancellor, CU BCL president Md Alamgir Tipu and CU BCL general secretary Fazle Rabbi Sujan for the meeting to discuss about the BCL infighting and their activities. But Tipu did not attend the meeting showing the reason of illness.

In the meeting, Obaidul Quader told CU Vice Chancellor: Why such untoward incidents happened repeatedly in your university? Is it not possible to run the university in a proper way? In reply, the Vice Chancellor said, "Now it is running well."

Quader said, "Where is it running well? Why clashes are seen to take place over tender if it is right? Why are you not introducing electronic tender?"

The CU Vice Chancellor, "We have already introduced electronic tender. They (Tipu and Sujan) never get locked into dispute before me. They lock into clash over trifling issues in absence of me."

Quader said, "You (CU Vice Chancellor) do not take a side. You need not to be partisan. Has Chhatra League made you VC? Can Chhatra League hold you in your post?"

Obaidul Quader asked the CU Vice Chancellor to be non-partisan to run the university.
