Robber shot dead by police in Gopalganj

Gopalganj Correspondent: A suspected robber has been shot dead by the police in Char Bikra village of Kashiani in Gopalganj district early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Tota Mandal, 45, son of Khabir Ullah, hailed from Charbikra village under Pangsha upazila of Rajbari.

Kashiani police station officer-in-charge Azizur Rahman said that 7-8 robbers were conducting robbery in a passenger bus putting tree log on Dhaka-Khulna highway around 3:30am. On information, police rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, the robbers started to throw brick-chips. In-reply, police opened fire, leaving the robber member bullet-injured.

Later, he was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he died under treatment.

Following the incident, police also detained two more robbers along with some lethal weapons.
